Upon earning his MBA (Finance) from the Haskayne School of Business in Canada, Calvin Hughes founded a respected management consultancy and M&A advisory in 1990.
With over three decades of excellence, he is an accomplished executive and deal transaction veteran having an established track record with over 350 successful engagements spanning M&A investment banking, business strategy and planning, workouts and turnarounds, valuations, investment value enhancement, ESOP’s, MBO’s, business process improvement, financial modelling, board membership and facilitation, deal negotiations, executive coaching, succession planning, and corporate leadership, Calvin is known as an honest and challenging thought leader able to achieve consensus, build and coordinate diverse teams and drive forward with tenacity and a focus on value creation for business and complex deal transactions.
Calvin’s work is recognized by The M&A Advisor (the leading industry association of New York, USA) as the Award Winner for their prestigious 2016 M&A Strategic Deal of the Year.
He is presently a board member with CREB, a 5,000+ member association and has held board member positions in various private companies over the years. Undergraduate studies were focused on Political Science and Psychology and his early professional work was in valuations, corporate banking and entrepreneurial initiatives, including several private company investments, start-ups and turnarounds.
Credentials include: Certified Management Consultant (C.M.C.) with the Canadian Association of Management Consultants, a Certified Merger and Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA) with the Alliance of Merger and Acquisition Advisors, NYU Stern Certificate in Advanced Valuation (with High Honours), licensed broker with RECA, member of CREB, a member of Beta Gamma Sigma for distinguished academic excellence, and former designated member with the Appraisal Institute of Canada (A.A.C.I.) and Appraisal Institute (USA).
