Andrés Jara Baader is a Founder Advisor of Alster with a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He is a recipient of the Luis Gutierrez Alliende award for best student of his generation in commercial law (2005). He has a Master in Law and Business (MLB) from Bucerius Hochschule für Rechtswissenschaft and WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management in Hamburg, Germany (2009). He also has a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the Pontificia Universidad Católica in Santiago, Chile (2012). He was a foreign lawyer at CMS Hasche Sigle in Hamburg, Germany (2009), an associate attorney at Jara Del Favero Abogados (2006-2008), a senior associate attorney at Guerrero, Olivos, Novoa y Errázuriz (2009-2011), legal counsel at GlencoreXstrata (2011-2013), and general counsel of Aconcagua S.A., the real estate arm of Salfacorp S.A. (2013-2015). He has also been a Professor of Marketing and Research Associate at the CGCUC Faculty of Law of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile since 2006. Furthermore, he has taught the course Contemporary Challenges of In-House Counsel since 2015 at the UC LLM. He has been published on matters of corporate governance and a speaker at seminars on financing structures. He is a member of the Bar Association of Chile and a mentor of Endeavor Chile.

His expertise lies in providing advisory legal services on various types of corporate matters having accumulated a wealth of experience in the development, administration, coordination and management of in-house counsel, together with the definition and implementation of compliance policies, procedures, and information management systems. He has designed accountability mechanisms, implemented contractual models and best practices, generated and managed risk matrices, implemented policies to prevent crime, advised directors and managers on risk mitigation, negotiated complex contracts, financing, partnerships and new business, defined legal and commercial strategies, and managed investment fund structures and alternative project financing.

He also has extensive experience providing comprehensive advice to clients on regulated markets, the stock market, venture capital financing, corporate governance, project structuring, the design of complex financial products, M&A and others.
